  Almost missed this as we were driving south on US-395 along side the West Fork of the Walker River. {Google that ID and you will be much further northeast}. Google Shingle Mill Flat and you will get this place.
  
  Good break after driving the from Reno, and lots of placards with tons of information on the river, the valley, and the environment. There are places to picnic, a restroom, and such. As far a water goes, not sure if the river is drinkable, it should be, but there are towns upstream of this spot. I am sure the water is cold, it is from the snow melt.
  
  You should get some good photo shots of the 'white water' as it rushes past.
